Suspicious grass fires, Giru to Alligator Creek

Police are investigating a number of suspicious grass fires between Giru and Alligator Creek on Tuesday, 9 September.

Initial investigations indicate between 1.45pm and 3pm, an unknown suspect was travelling along the Bruce Highway, north of Giru and intentionally started four fires.

The fires were located:

Southern side of the Haughton River Bridge, Bruce Highway, Giru

5 km north of the Bruce Highway and Cromarty Siding Road intersection, Cromarty

Intersection of the Bruce Highway and Cape Cleveland Road, Mount Elliot

Intersection of Tindall Court and Bruce Highway, Alligator Creek

Police are appealing to anyone with relevant information or dashcam vision to contact police.
