COLUMBUS, Ohio — Several people were displaced following a fire at a townhome in northeast Columbus Thursday morning.

Firefighters with the Columbus Division of Fire were called to the 5400 block of Lakota Drive just after 2 a.m.

Columbus Battalion Fire Chief Jeff Geitter told 10TV that the fire started at the back of an eight-unit townhouse. Six of the units were occupied when the fire happened.

Geitter said 12 adults, five children and multiple pets were able to escape the fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire.
