A Chester man was sentenced to 4 to 12 years in a state prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to aggravated assault and conspiracy in a shooting on Interstate 95 in 2023.

Tavares Cooper, 26, is among four people who were initially charged in the Oct. 21 shooting in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Exit 3.

Two of those suspects, Naere Alexander-Thorpe of Upland and Keith Robertson of Linwood, have since been dismissed from the case. A fourth suspect, Jamade McMillian, 27, Upper Chichester, has been charged but not arrested.

Cooper, represented by defense counsel Tracie Burns, was arrested in February 2024 and entered into a negotiated waiver of his preliminary hearing in July 2024. Under the terms of that waiver, the commonwealth agreed to withdraw charges of attempted murder and posse
