Scattered thunderstorms and chilly temperatures will make it feel like fall in the Sierra Thursday.
The morning hours will be dry, but starting around 11 a.m. showers will begin to pop up over the Sierra crest. The Tahoe area as well as Plumas and Mono County will see scattered downpours through the late afternoon.
Thursday is a KCRA 3 weather Impact Day because of the need to rearrange outdoor afternoon plans in the mountains.
Heavy rain, small hail and sleet as well as lightning are possible in some of the more intense downpours.
The Valley and Foothills will stay dry on Thursday. Clouds will gradually give way to more blue sky by the late afternoon. Valley highs will reach the low 80s. Foothills temperatures will stay in the mid 70s.
