To the Editor:

The water and sewer issue continues to confuse everyone.

On August 12, I received information on Town of Watertown letterhead that said I would pay $1,136 per year toward the $34 million bond. It also said that well and septic households “will not be affected by Waterbury-related bonding or rate increases”.

This communication led me to believe that well/septic households had no obligation to repay the bond. In my August 28 letter, I asked well and septic residents to skip voting only on the $34 million water and sewer bond at the September 16 referendum (not the road bond). I believed that the citizens who were impacted, namely the ratepayers, should be the ones to decide the issue.
