The man accused in a fatal November shooting at Ten 10 Restaurant and Lounge will serve 13 years for the crime as part of a plea deal.

Khaleel Latwain Rodgers Jr., 29, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in Danville Circuit Court on Tuesday morning.

He was sentenced immediately after his plea.

The low-end sentencing was handed down based on the victim, 33-year-old Damien Reed, being the primary aggressor in the Nov. 9 incident, Danville Commonwealth’s Attorney Michael Newman told the Register & Bee on Tuesday.

According to the commonwealth’s summary of evidence presented to the court, police were called to 1010 Piney Forest Road on Nov. 9 and found Reed lying on the ground in a pool of blood, saying he had been shot.
