South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas has met with King Charles at Clarence House in London, engaging in discussions on matters of significance to the state.

The meeting, which occurred during Malinauskas's seven-day trip to the United Kingdom, covered a range of topics, including the algal bloom crisis and the Whyalla Steelworks.

"I've got to say I was taken aback by the level of knowledge and interest in matters in South Australia across a whole range of issues," Malinauskas said.

"The king was very warm and generous and conversational, he was very calming."

The premier's visit to the UK was primarily focused on securing international investment in South Australia's defence industry and the AUKUS program.
