LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - This week’s Hometown Hero is a Purple Heart recipient who survived traumatic injuries while serving in Iraq, but is still eager to usher in the next generation of those who protect our country. Today, we give you Lt. John Redden’s story.
Redden is the Lieutenant over recruiting and retention for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, but prior to this role, he was a member of the US Marine Corps in Camp Blue Diamond. On a fateful day in Ramadi, Iraq, John survived the deadly attack that left him with injuries that he still suffers with to this day.
“We under attack, and in that, I received shrapnel on my legs, hurt my back. They were able to medivac me out to the nearest FOB and I was air-vac’d out of Iraq.”
