GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - The Green Bay Area Public School District (GBAPS) is implementing new security measures, including a new backpack policy, after Tuesday's incident at Preble High School that involved a gun.
Starting Monday, September 22, all students in grades 6-12 will need to use a clear or colorless packpack.
A public meeting has been announced for Monday, September 15, at 6 p.m. to give feedback and get recommendations on school security. The meeting will be held at Preble High School.
Officials also noted that they will review their safety and security protocols with the Wisconsin School Safety Coordinators Association and strengthen coordination with community partners and non-profits, with an emphasis on school safety.
