Florida's private passenger rail service, Brightline, has been sparking safety concerns amid its rising death rate. It's America's deadliest train, which kills someone every 13 days, according to a recent investigation by the Miami Herald .

Before this dark reputation, Brightline was praised for being one of the fastest trains in the U.S. It has a maximum speed of 125 mph (sometimes 130 mph), cutting the 235-mile journey between Miami and America's least walkable city, Orlando , to 3 hours and 25 minutes.

But passengers and advocates are now questioning why the service still operates, with over 180 deaths since 2017, a year before Brightline even launched. The rail company insists that these fatalities are a shared responsibility rather than a safety issue with their trains.
