For anybody who loves rock guitar, there was no better place to be than at the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Gov’t Mule pairing on Wednesday night, Sept. 10, at the Pine Knob Music Theatre.
Derek Trucks and Gov’t Mule’s Warren Haynes, who played in the Allman Brothers Band together from 2000-2014 — with multiple Pine Knob appearances during that time — are nothing less than generational talents who certainly deserve mention in any discussion of rock’s greatest guitar players, living or otherwise. And that the TTB’s portion of the evening could start without a Trucks solo until halfway through the second song, “Devil Be Gone,” speaks to how much six-string prowess his wife and bandmate Susan Tedeschi brings to the party.
