CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- It was on this day 24 years ago that nearly 3,000 lives were lost in the terror attacks on September 11, 2001.
They took place in New York City, Washington, DC and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Thursday morning, a special ceremony is taking place in Clovis to honor the victims, their families, and the first responders who gave of themselves to help those in need.
The keynote speaker will be Erik Ronningen, who was the last person to escape the South Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11 before it collapsed.
The public is welcome to attend.
The ceremony takes place at 8:30 am at 3485 Never Forget Lane in Clovis.
