COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. (FOX Carolina) - Former North Carolina congressman Madison Cawthorn was arrested in Florida.

According to online records, Cawthorn was wanted out of Collier County, Florida for failing to appear in court on a driving while license suspended or revoked charge.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said Cawthorn was arrested by the Cape Coral Police Department and booked in the detention center on Sept. 10. He was released the same day on a $2,000 bond.

Cawthorn served as the U.S. representative for North Carolina’s 11th congressional district from 2021 to 2023. He grew up in western North Carolina but moved to Florida after leaving office.

In 2024, Cawthorn appeared to be involved in a collision that injured a Florida state trooper .
