A warning has been issued over a financial app being used by workers. Users of the salary advance service Wagestream - marketed by their employers - say it was all too easy to slip into debt.

One Pizza Express worker used Wagestream, which works with clients including Asda , Next, Superdrug, Burger King and a number of NHS trusts. The app gives workers access to a suite of services including salary advance.

For just £1.75 per withdrawal, Andy could take up to half of his wages early. Wagestream launched “workplace loans” this year, a service that offered borrowers up to £25,000.
