Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff to honor Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist shot and killed during an event at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.
At the same time, DeWine had previously ordered flags lowered on Patriot Day, today, Sept. 11, to honor victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001.
DeWine has ordered American and Ohio flags to fly at half-staff at all public buildings in the state through 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, to honor Kirk, according to an emailed statement from the governor's office. His order mirrors that of President Donald Trump . Kirk, 31, was a close political ally of Trump, USA TODAY reports.
