11-year-old facing felony charge in connection with school threat in Mayfield

MAYFIELD, Ky. (KFVS) - An 11-year-old is facing charges in connection with a threat made toward Mayfield Middle School.

According to Mayfield police, at around 6:10 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, they received a call about a juvenile making threats toward the middle school.

Officers quickly identified and found the juvenile.

The 11-year-old was ordered to juvenile detention on a felony charge of second-degree terroristic threatening.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to public safety. Officers will continue to work with the schools to ensure the safety of students and staff.
