MARTINSBURG - The Martinsburg VA Medical Center was filled with paintings, ceramics, music and stories this week as veterans gathered for the facility’s annual Veterans Creative Arts Festival, aiming to celebrate both artistic achievement and personal healing.

Now in its 31st year in Martinsburg, the event is part of the National Veterans Creative Arts Program, which began more than four decades ago. Local winners in categories ranging from visual art to creative writing and music will advance to national competition against entries from VA facilities across the country.
