A veteran Miami Fire Rescue captain arrested for allegedly assaulting Miami-Dade Sheriff's deputies could soon have his criminal charges dropped if he completes a program offered to him by the state attorney's office.
Capt. Maximo Vasquez was arrested back in June on charges of assaulting a police officer or firefighter, disorderly conduct, resisting an officer without violence and misuse of 911 after he was accused of assaulting a fellow first responder while trying to report that his wife was missing.
Video obtained by NBC6 showed the tense encounter.
"Did I tell you I did not want a report?" Vasquez says in the video.
"I asked you if you wanted a report," a deputy responds.
"And my question, my answer was?" Vasquez asks.
"Go f--- yourself," the deputy responded.
