A few weeks before the start of the regular season, the New Orleans Saints found themselves in dire need of a capable swing tackle after Landon Young suffered an ankle injury that put him on season-ending injured reserve.

So the Saints dipped into their pool of draft resources and put together a trade for Asim Richards, sending a future sixth round pick to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for Richards and a seventh rounder.

New Orleans couldn’t have known how quickly it would need Richards.

Taliese Fuaga played just 46 offensive snaps before heading to the bench with a knee injury against the Arizona Cardinals — and it was evident from his performance that he’d been trying to play through the pain before leaving the game.
