Missouri basketball center Trent Burns’ debut will be delayed.
The 7-foot-5 ‘unicorn’ prospect underwent successful surgery Tuesday, according to a Mizzou news release, and will miss the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign. Burns did not appear last season, his true freshman season, because of a foot injury.
The team categorized the most-recent injury as a stress reaction in his right foot, which appears to be a similar injury to the one that kept him off the court last season.
Burns will sit out for the next six weeks before entering a “return-to-play protocol.”
The full recovery timeline is expected to be between 8-12 weeks, per the team. Looking for a free mini puzzle? Play the USA TODAY Quick Cross now.
