LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Students at Butler Traditional High School arrived on campus earlier than usual Thursday.
They were there to set up a memorial of nearly 3,000 American flags, honoring the victims of the September 11 attacks.
"The idea of first getting up at 5 a.m. is a little hard for a lot of high school students," one student said.
The memorial, held for the past five years, involves setting out nearly 3,000 American flags, each representing a life lost in the attacks 24 years ago. This content is imported from YouTube. Keiran Poole, a student involved in the event, said, "Even though we haven't lived through it, we can still make a memorial for it."
