MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – River View High School (RVHS) and Sandy River Middle School (SRMS) were evacuated Wednesday after a graffiti message threatening a bomb was discovered on campus.
McDowell County Schools officials said all students and staff were safe and were escorted outside under the supervision of staff and law enforcement.
“We are incredibly proud of our staff and students for following safety protocols,” the district stated.
Local emergency officials assisted in overseeing all operations.
Both schools dismissed early, with buses leaving between 12:15 and 12:30 p.m.
Students departed on their regular buses, and parents were asked not to come to the schools to pick up children to keep bus loops clear. Evening drivers for the CTC RV campus will not be affected.
