BOWLING GREEN – Anthony Stacey, who guided Whitmer’s boys basketball team to substantial success in five seasons, stepped down as the Panthers’ coach to accept a position as an assistant for Bowling Green State University’s men’s hoops team.

BGSU announced Stacey’s hiring on Thursday afternoon.

"I'm beyond excited to return home to my alma mater and join Coach Simon and the BGSU Falcons staff," Stacey said in a news release. "I love BG and the direction of the program.

“While it was extremely difficult to say goodbye to my Whitmer players, this is the only opportunity I would have ever left for, and I'm proud to be a Falcon again.”
