In a competitive situation, Netflix has landed the rights to develop a series version of Elsie Silver’s Chestnut Springs novels, Variety has learned exclusively.

Hannah Schneider (“The Waterfront,” “Accused”) is attached to adapt the books for the screen, while Shawn Levy will executive produce via 21 Laps Entertainment under the company’s TV overall deal with Netflix.

There have been five Chestnut Springs book to date — “Flawless,” “Heartless,” “Powerless,” “Reckless,” and “Hopeless.” The description of the books states, “A series set against the breathtaking backdrop of small-town Canada, following siblings as they navigate their family-owned ranch and embark upon turbulent, emotional, and at times spicy, journeys toward finding love.”
