Fremantle are urging superstar Luke Jackson to develop more as a midfielder this off-season as they look to maximise the 199cm footballer’s incredible athletic talents.

Jackson emerged as a midfield-ruck hybrid in the latter part of this season upon Sean Darcy’s return to the side, leading to a berth in the All-Australian squad as the ninth-highest rated player in the AFL.

The West Australian reported on Wednesday that Jackson wanted clarity around his role and to train as a midfielder and ruckman this summer to take his game to the next level.

Speaking days after their heartbreaking elimination final loss to Gold Coast, Dockers football boss Joe Brierty said Jackson’s place in the team would “continue to evolve” but would not reveal where he’d play in 2026.
