WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Animal control officials in West Hartford are looking for the owner of a blue ring neck parrot found at a basketball court on Wednesday.

According to a post on West Hartford Animal Control's Facebook page, the parrot was found at a basketball court near Edward W. Morley Elementary School on Bretton Road on Wednesday and taken to the town's animal shelter.

The agency is now looking for the bird's owner and will require proof of ownership in order to release it. Since the agency does not believe the bird is a stray, it is not available for adoption.

Anyone who may know the owner of the bird is asked to call West Hartford Animal Control at 860-570-8818.
