Some Surprise trash and recycling customers in the growing northwest part of the city are moving to a Monday collection next month.
Customers living between Jomax Road and McMicken Way, and from 147th Avenue east to the boundaries of Surprise, will start on the new schedule, beginning Monday, Oct. 6.
City officials said the move is to accommodate additional collection as the city grows. It allows the city to continue to balance the number of homes serviced each day.
This change will require those customers to have their trash and recycling cans out by 6 a.m. on Mondays.
Most city of Surprise customers will not be affected by the change, which mainly applies to residents of the Rancho Mercado neighborhood who live east of 147th Avenue.
