AVA, Mo. — The City of Ava is planning a city-wide power outage by Show-Me Power tonight.

According to a post from the City of Ava's Facebook page, the power outage will take place from midnight on Thursday, Sept. 11, to 2 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, due to substation work that needs to be done.

The City has provided some tips during the two-hour outage:

Before the Outage • Charge Devices: Fully charge all essential electronics like cell phones, laptops, and power banks. • Lighting: Have flashlights with fresh batteries ready. Avoid using candles, as they are a fire hazard. • Appliances: Unplug major appliances and sensitive electronics (computers, TVs) to protect them from potential power surges when the electricity is restored.
