After more than twenty years making wine in the Adelaide Hills – including a long stint at boutique producer Chain of Ponds – Greg Clack has stepped out on his own. Aptitude Wine is his personal project that leans into site, nuance, and the balance between nature and craft.

The debut range, released late last month, puts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at its heart – soon joined by Nebbiolo once released – and Gamay, Barbera and a skin-contact white in supporting roles.

There’s no question that land is the story behind Aptitude. It was born from a growing respect for the natural ability of vineyard sites – the way soils, elevation and season shape fruit long before the winemaker even lays a hand on it.
