Banana Boogie Bakery has another reason to celebrate, with first-year apprentice Lauren Govender officially named Australia’s number one apprentice pastry chef at the prestigious Bake Skills competition in Sydney.
The title was awarded during Fine Foods Australia, where the country’s most talented young pastry chefs battled it out under intense pressure.
For Banana Boogie owner and head baker Jason Spencer, it was a moment he’ll never forget.
“We’re just so proud of her,” he says.
“Lauren shows up every single day ready to give everything she has. I knew she had a shot, but to see her actually take the win, it was incredible.”
