The City of Nedlands is the latest western suburbs council to run into budget troubles with the State Administrative Tribunal.
The budget was adopted by commissioners now running the city at their August 27 meeting after several weeks of delays, and came back to them again on September 3 for some last-minute changes.
These included specifying how much residents would be charged for the Nedlands North and Nedlands West underground power projects, and new instalment dates for rates payments.
The changes needed approval from the SAT, and city staff were confident it would be given.
However, the SAT has thrown a spanner in the works by disallowing the service charges.
“The tribunal is satisfied that (the decision) to impose a service charge for underground power did not comply with the ti
