Yesterday, in the cold September waters of the English Channel, near Sangatte in Pas-de-Calais, three migrants died. Two were reportedly children. During the night, 194 others were rescued and returned to French shores after emergency operations had to be launched.

More than three thousand readers responded to the deaths of the children with a laughing emoji. The comments beneath are beyond dark.
