Allies in Action is the theme for this year’s Take Back the Night walk set for Sept. 18 in downtown Sarnia.
The walks have been held globally since the 1970s and in Sarnia since the early 1990s to raise awareness of gender-based violence.
Locally, it’s organized by The Centre Sarnia-Lambton, a Sarnia agency advocating for an end to gender-based violence, as well as providing counselling and other services for those impacted.
The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the library theatre downtown with presentations and a display of survival testimonials, followed by a march in the downtown that will end back at the library by about 7:30 p.m., said Trish Vanoosterom, The Centre’s community education manager.
