COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - An off-duty sergeant and two good Samaritans helped save the father of a Muscogee County deputy from a car that was hit by a train on Sept. 9.

Deputy Marcus Street’s father was traveling on Macon Road near Garrett Road when his vehicle was rear-ended by another car going about 80 mph, according to the sheriff’s office. The impact pushed his vehicle onto railroad tracks at Ingrillis Road.

Sgt. Earl Osbon, who was off duty at the time, witnessed the crash and rushed to help. The passenger was able to get out, but the driver was injured and initially advised not to be moved.
