BOSTON —
Police said they are responding to a report of shots fired at UMass Boston.
The incident was reported Thursday at 240 Morrissey Blvd. in Dorchester, an address for one of the university's dorms.
School officials said police are near the residence hall East Building and have asked people to avoid the area.

State, local and university police are at the scene with weapons, going in and out of buildings.
Authorities said the response is for a report of shots fired, but nothing has been confirmed.
