Today, as we honor those lost during 9/11, we are reminded that across the country, first responders encounter danger every day. Police officers, firefighters and EMTs are some of the first people to help in an emergency. But what happens when they’re the ones in need? According to the CDC, first responders are more likely to die by suicide than in the line of duty. National Mental Health Correspondent Dr. Nicole Clark has more on a program that’s aiming to address this sobering reality.

Vickie Warehime served 28 years with the Baltimore County Police Department.

“It wasn't nine to five,” Warehime said. “I wasn't sitting behind a desk. And I was helping people. And I'm here to tell you, best decision ever.”
