GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Florida Board of Governors voted to approve the contract for University of Florida interim president Donald Landry on Thursday.
Landry’s been in office since Sept. 1, and within the past three years, four people have filled the role.
“I look forward to serving UF students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders throughout the state. Go Gators,” said Landry.
Landry comes in after Dr. Santa Ono was rejected by the Florida Board of Governors in June. This is the first time the board of governors has rejected a presidential pick.
Dr. Ono was offered a 5-year employment contract with an annual base salary of $1.5 million plus $500,000 to run UF Health.
