THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) - Outdated, overcrowded and unsafe. That’s how officials in Thomas County are describing their local jail facility, leaving them feeling worried about security, among other issues.

From roof leaks to sewage back-ups, mold and failing cell doors, Thomas County Sheriff Tim Watkins said Thomas County Jail is in bad shape and they are desperate for repairs.

Additionally, there are concerns about overcrowded intake areas at the 33-year-old jail facility, resulting in some inmates sleeping in random rooms and visitation booths.
