WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - The deadly shooting of Charlie Kirk on a Utah college campus is bringing renewed attention to campus safety.

With colleges and universities across the state welcoming guests and speakers all the time, campus police departments are constantly reviewing how to keep students and visitors safe.

At the University of New Haven, Chief Adam Brown says they are always talking, planning, and looking at what more they can do.

“What happened was horrific,” Chief Brown said. “You never want that to happen to anybody or any school system.”

Chief Brown says he is in regular contact with other departments and chiefs around the region, especially after major incidents like the one in Utah.
