FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - The Franklin County Public School Board held a meeting earlier this week focusing on school security.

Specifically, they’re looking into a program that would use AI to detect guns.

We spoke with the superintendent about how it would work.

ZeroEyes is an AI system used to detect guns through the schools’ cameras.

The technology helps alert a human to verify a weapon on campus and take action by contacting authorities in a more quick and efficient manner.

“We always have to look at what we can do to increase safety and security in our schools, and the technology is changing rapidly,” said Franklin County Public Schools Superintendent, Kevin Siers.
