An officer who had been on administrative leave since Sunday after a police chase led to the death of teenager Tristan Hollis in north Alabama, was sued two weeks ago for alleged involvement in the beating death of a Decatur man, court documents show.

But the mayor of Priceville where the officer works says the claim is not true and the officer will be removed from the lawuit. Priceville mayor Sam Heflin said today that Officer Garry Chapman “was falsely named in that suit and will be dropped out of it soon. Officer Chapman was never at the scene or involved at all.”
