PORT ARTHUR, Texas — The Public Utility Commission of Texas has approved Entergy Texas’ plan to build two new natural gas power plants that will add more than 1,200 megawatts of electricity to the Southeast Texas grid by 2028.

The Legend Power Station in Port Arthur and the Lone Star Power Station near Cleveland are expected to provide enough reliable energy to power more than 300,000 homes. Entergy said the facilities will help meet growing demand, strengthen grid reliability and reduce costs for customers.
