Thousands of Google Maps users across the country reported problems with the app Thursday afternoon, including reports coming from the Chicago area.

According to the website Downdetector , nationwide reports of problems with Google Maps began around 1:43 p.m. Thursday. By 3:43 p.m., a spike of more than 5,334 outages was reported, the webpage showed.

An outage map on Downdetector showed reports of problems with Google Maps across multiple other cities Thursday, including Atlanta, Portland, Boston, New York and Los Angeles.

"Maps can tell where I am but can’t find an address or search anything. Phone on off. Uninstalled reinstalled. Nope same problem definitely down," a user on Downdetector said in a comment around 2 p.m. Thursday.
