CAMERON COUNTY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Members of Valley Baptist Health System in Harlingen and Brownsville gathered to remember and reflect on the events of September 11, 2001.
On Thursday, a flag-raising ceremony was held outside the Stillman Lobby Entrance to honor the firefighters and first responders who gave their lives.
"An event like this helps us remember who we are as a community, to keep us united, to make sure that we remember the sacrifice others made, and to remember that it should never happen again," said Ricky de Jesus, Chief Nursing Officer at Valley Baptist Health System.
In addition, a memorial stair-climb event was held to remember the heroes and victims of that day.
