Georgia football is closing the gap for the most players on active NFL rosters on the opening weekend, according to data released by the league on Thursday, Sept 11.

The Bulldogs rank third again with 55 players, but that’s up 10 from a year ago.

Alabama has had the most — or tied for the most — for nine straight years.

The Crimson Tide has 60, trailed by Ohio State with 56. Georgia had 16 less than the Crimson Tide a year ago, but now it’s five.

Michigan is behind Georgia in fourth with 43, followed by LSU with 40 and Notre Dame with 39 and Penn State with 37.

Georgia and Michigan are tied for the most offensive guards with six.
