What do Alabama State University, Virginia State University, and Hampton University all have in common? They are all Historically Black Colleges and Universities and they were all locked down after receiving threats on Thursday.

As of 2:30 p.m., The USA Today Network has confirmed at least seven HBCUs were threatened , including Clark Atlanta University. Nearby Spelman College also instituted a shelter-in-place order.

This comes a day after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah.

How many HBCUs are in Georgia?

Georgia has 10 HBCUs. At present, we have only confirmed two were impacted by these threats.
