PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Some central Illinois locations will soon be awarded grants to help preserve historic sites.

The nonprofit Landmark Illinois is awarding $43,000 to support 10 preservation projects across the state, Landmark Illinois Spokesperson Kaitlyn McAvoy said.

"These grants provide critical seed funding to nonprofits, congregations and community groups working to restore culturally and historically significant sites," McAvoy said.

Some of the local locations that will receive funding will include Jubilee College in Brimfield, which will receive $5,000 to restore its original windows and the Orpheum Theatre in Galesburg, which will also receive $5,000 to replace three exterior doors.
