MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Those who call Frayser home say their community is in need of prayer after a man reportedly died while exchanging gunfire with police on Thursday morning.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says the shooting took place at a home on Dellwood Avenue in Frayser during the morning hours of September 11.

The Bartlett Police Department and the DEA were serving a warrant at a home just after 6 a.m.

During the encounter, the suspect fired a gun at officers. Officers returned fire, killing the man.

TBI later identified the suspect as 77-year-old Augusto Columbie.

A Bartlett police officer was injured as a result of gunfire that occurred inside the home. The officer was transported to a local hospital in non-critical condition.
