NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) -- Crunch Fitness honored the heroes of the 9/11 attacks in their own way, while also helping people get their steps in.
"Today we have our 9/11 Stairmaster challenge. It's just a really good way to honor those who sacrificed on 9/11, 24 years ago," said Parker Jackson, the general manager of Crunch Fitness.
Participants were tasked with walking up 110 flights of stairs, the same number of flights first responders had to walk up in the Twin Towers with all their gear. Many people not only walked the 110, but went above and beyond, some walking almost four times the amount.
"The goal is 110 floors because the World Trade Center had 110 floors. That's just to signify how many floors the firefighters went up in there full gear," he said.
