Knee injuries took away the junior seasons of both Travis Blackman and Landon Kemper.
But each player learned an important lesson while watching from the sidelines.
These days, the two don’t take any moments on the gridiron for granted playing football with their Hudson’s Bay teammates. They know those moments can be fleeting.
“One moment you’re just celebrating with your team all excited, and the next moment you’re on the sideline crying because you’re out for the season,” Blackman said.
Now healthy as seniors, Blackman and Kemper have seen those highs and lows not only as individuals, but also with the team. Each swung between JV and varsity on the Eagles’ 2023 team that went 7-3 and clinched their first playoff berth since 2017.
